Florence is the most beautiful city to wander around, to stop for a lovely coffee or gelato or to sit and enjoy lunch or dinner outside whilst watching the world go by.
We found some lovely spots for dinner, sampling both pasta and pizza for a balanced diet of course. Here's just a couple of our favourites:
Located on Via Guelfa 3, it was just up the street from our lovely Air BnB and was relatively modern compared to a lot of the trattoria's around. We sat outside in the warm evening sunshine and enjoyed a truly delicious meal of beef carpaccio followed by the most beautiful handmade traditional Sardinian ravioli for me and beef fillet for my husband.
Our toddler was treated to the most delicious handmade pasta al Pomodoro (the first of many)
This restaurant summed up exactly what we were looking for to accommodate all our needs, they had highchairs and cutlery for the little ones but beautiful food and drink for the adults in an amazing setting. Unusually this restaurant did have a kids menu, most don't but will either do a smaller portion of a main course or make some fresh pasta for the kids.
The staff were outstanding with our toddler, so accommodating and engaging with him, I would have gone back everyday.
Located on Via del Canto dei Nelli, this was in one of our favourite spots near some beautiful little streets full of places to eat and drink.
Having had pasta the night before, it was only right to have pizza and they were delicious! The staff were fantastic, really friendly and knowledgeable but good fun too. They were great with our toddler too. No kids menu here but they did have highchairs and went out of their way to entertain him during the evening. They made him a lovely fresh bowl of simple pasta that wasn't on the menu but he really enjoyed, it was so good I dipped my pizza crusts in it!
The bowls of pasta that our toddler was given, although smaller than a main, were still quite large so we just asked to bundle them up and take the rest away with us which he then had later on or the following day for lunch. Top tip - pack some Tupperware for those delicious left overs, you won't want to leave them behind.
Florence fulfilled our longings for beautiful food, delicious drinks and gorgeous places for Mum and Dad all while being great spots for our toddler too. He loved watching the scooters drive past and interacting with passers by whilst waiting for his food.
