Our stay in Sorrento

Travelling with a very active toddler isn't easy but we knew that having space for him to run around and explore would make life easier for everyone. We also knew we wanted some outdoor space to enjoy a glass of wine after he had gone to bed, ideally with a lovely view.
The Air BnB we booked near Sorrento ticked all our boxes and more - it was truly special. La Pigna is located just outside Piano di Sorrento, up tiny winding roads barely wide enough for one car and surrounded by lemon groves. As you walk around the building the entire Bay of Naples opens up before you - truly incredible.

Our hosts Giusy and her family were the most incredible hosts. Not only had they set up a travel cot for our toddler with the most beautiful embroidered cover but they had also left spare nappies and wipes for him. They had also left homemade Limoncello and marmalade made from the oranges and lemons on their land.
Once we had settled in, we took our lunch out onto the terrace to soak up the views and they bought us freshly made orange and lemon cake made by Mama to enjoy and it was delicious, eaten under the shade of a lemon tree.
La Pigna is located up in the hills, giving it the most incredible views but that does mean you have to walk back up those hills to get back home. Saying that, it was only about a 25-30 minute walk down to the coast, or to the train station for trips into Sorrento main town, Pompeii etc There was also a supermarket on the way that helped break up the journey.
The roads out of the village are narrow and I mean narrow. They are two way roads and you would get two scooters past each other but when I stood in the middle of the road and held my arms out I could nearly touch the walls either side. Cars had to reverse to let us past with the pushchair it was so narrow. Every time a car or scooter approached a corner they would beep their horn twice to alert oncoming traffic, so much so that out toddler still refers to scooters as 'beep beeps' weeks later.
